Linen Tea Towels Are The Most Useful Item In The Kitchen

Here Are Two Reasons

No Rips Even After Using It So Much

A linen tea towel can be used to basically do anything in the kitchen: clean spills, hold hot trays, and even be used as a decoration. The best part? It's so strong it'll last years and not even have a scratch on it.

The Tea Towel That Everyone Loves

Dries Quickly To Prevent Bacteria Buildup

Once you use a cloth to clean something like a spill, there's a soggy feeling on it. With linen tea towels, they dry quickly. This lets you use the tea towel again much quicker so you can prepare those meals faster.

What do linen lovers say about us?

These tea towels are unmatched

Bought quite a few as a friend told me these were really good to use in the kitchen. Happy to say she was right. I love how absorbent they are and how they dry so quickly

Linda McGregor

Very durable. More than my other towels

Beautiful towels that have been nothing but soft and functional. I had a dinner the other day and my mother was telling me how she loved using these tea towels to cook. She's now ordered some of her own tea towels from Fergusons.

Cathy Sullivan

My favourite kitchen accessory

I love being in the kitchen, and now I love it more because I have these tea towels to use. You won't regret purchasing them.

What Are Linen Tea Towels?

How Hygienic Are Tea Towels?

Linen tea towels are high-quality kitchen towels made from natural flax fibers. They’re lightweight, quick-drying, and far more durable than standard cotton towels, making them perfect for everyday kitchen use and entertaining. Tea towels are very hygienic when washed regularly, but linen has a natural edge. Linen fibres are naturally antibacterial and resist odours, meaning they stay fresher for longer and reduce the buildup of harmful bacteria compared to cotton or synthetics.

What Are Tea Towels Made Of?

What Material Makes the Best Tea Towels And Why?

Tea towels are typically made of linen or cotton. Cotton is soft and affordable, but linen is stronger, more absorbent, and has natural antibacterial properties which is why it’s long been the premium choice. Linen is the best material for tea towels. It’s more absorbent than cotton, dries quickly, resists bacteria, and becomes softer with every wash. The durability also means one linen towel can last for years, while cotton ones often wear thin much faster.

What Properties Make Linen Suitable For Making Tea Towels?

Where Should I Buy Tea Towels?

These properties make linen both practical and luxurious for daily kitchen use.

  1. Natural antibacterial qualities (stays cleaner, longer)
  2. Highly absorbent but quick-drying
  3. Becomes softer with every wash while maintaining strength
  4. Durable enough to withstand decades of use
Buy tea towels from trusted makers who use 100% pure linen; especially heritage brands with a reputation for craftsmanship. Quality matters: the weave, weight, and finishing will determine how long they last and how well they perform.

How To Take Care of Your Kitchen Linens

All you need to know to keep your linens as good as new

If you want to give your kitchen linens the best care, make sure you machine wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent, avoiding bleach. We recommend you to air dry or tumble dry on low heat and to remove while it is slightly damp to keep wrinkles to the minimum. In terms of ironing, use a medium-hot iron. Store in dry place away from direct sunlight. Air dry is recommended, otherwise tumble dry on low heat. Iron while damp with a medium-hot iron if you don't want wrinkles. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For more detailed care instructions, visit Ferguson's Irish Linen Care Guide and learn all about taking care of linens. Where do we make our tea towels?

Our part of Ireland creates the perfect environment naturally for weaving. So we have been able to do it for centuries learning techniques and skills that get passed down through generations. Today thanks to humidity controlled rooms, weaving can be done almost anywhere. However, it is the natural climate and legacy of expertise behind Irish Linen that makes it so special.

Can I use bleach on my tea towels?

We don't recommend using bleach as it can damage the fibers and cause discoloration.

How should I store my tea towels?

If you want to keep your bed linens, throws and blankets as good as new, store them in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Also, to prevent mildew, make sure they are completely dry once you store them.

What sizes do you have available?

All sizes we have will be displayed on each product page

How do I remove stains from my tea towels?

Use mild detergent and do it as soon as possible. If the stain persists, use a gentle stain remover suitable for linen. Don't use bleach or any other hard chemicals.
