A Spotless Kitchen Counter

You know what's annoying? Stains on your counter. It's worse when they're transparent so you don't see it unless light is reflected on it perfectly. Cotton towels can do the job, but not like linen. With linen, you consistently get a spotless counter without putting too much effort into rubbing the stain off.

Can You Iron Linen?

Yes But Always Iron It When Damp

Yes, you can absolutely iron linen, and in fact, it’s one of the best ways to bring out the natural beauty of the fabric. Linen is prone to wrinkling because of its natural fibers, but ironing while it’s still slightly damp allows the heat and steam to relax the weave without straining it. This not only smooths out wrinkles quickly but also helps preserve the strength of the fibres. Using a medium to high heat setting with steam gives linen its crisp, elegant finish while protecting the material from scorching. Many people actually enjoy the look of gently wrinkled linen because it highlights the fabric’s organic texture, but if you prefer a more polished appearance, ironing while damp is the key.

What Are Pockets on Aprons For?

To Store Your Essentials For Easy Access

Pockets on aprons are designed with practicality in mind, making them one of the most useful features for anyone who spends time in the kitchen. They give you a convenient place to keep small essentials close at hand, whether that’s a meat thermometer, recipe card, pen, or even your phone for checking timers and instructions. Pockets also free up your hands, allowing you to move around the kitchen without constantly reaching for drawers or counters. Beyond cooking, apron pockets are helpful for carrying utensils while setting the table, holding a notepad if you are hosting, or even storing garden tools if you are working outside. In short, they make aprons more than just a protective garment because they turn them into a multi-tasking tool for both function and comfort.

What Is the Purpose of a Tea Towel in the Kitchen?

It Can Be Used For So Many Things In Kitchen Which Is Why It's Loved

A tea towel is one of those quiet essentials that ends up being used for far more than people expect. At its most basic, it’s meant for drying dishes and glassware, but because linen tea towels are lint-free, they excel at polishing wine glasses, silverware, and other delicate items without leaving streaks. They’re also perfect for covering rising dough, keeping baked goods warm, or even acting as a makeshift potholder in a pinch. Many people also love them as decorative accents, whether draped over an oven handle or folded neatly on a counter, they add charm while staying practical. In short, a tea towel is both a tool and a detail that elevates the flow of a kitchen.

Where to Keep Tea Towels in the Kitchen?

Close Enough To Grab, But Avoid Damp Places.

Storing tea towels properly is about both hygiene and convenience. Because they’re used so often, they need to be within easy reach of prep areas, sinks, and ovens. The most popular option is to hang them on oven or cabinet handles, or from hooks mounted on walls or the inside of cabinet doors. This lets the towels dry quickly and avoids them staying damp, which can cause odors. For spares, a dedicated drawer or basket near your cooking zone keeps things organized and accessible. Some people even roll or fold them neatly and keep them in open shelves as part of the kitchen décor. The key is to strike a balance — close enough to grab without thinking, but stored in a way that ensures they stay fresh and clean.

How To Take Care of Your Kitchen Linens

All you need to know to keep your linens as good as new

If you want to give your kitchen linens the best care, make sure you machine wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent, avoiding bleach. We recommend you to air dry or tumble dry on low heat and to remove while it is slightly damp to keep wrinkles to the minimum. In terms of ironing, use a medium-hot iron. Store in dry place away from direct sunlight. Air dry is recommended, otherwise tumble dry on low heat. Iron while damp with a medium-hot iron if you don't want wrinkles. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For more detailed care instructions, visit Ferguson's Irish Linen Care Guide and learn all about taking care of linens. We don't recommend using bleach as it can damage the fibers and cause discoloration.

How should I store my kitchen linens?

If you want to keep your linens as good as new, store them in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Also, to prevent mildew, make sure they are completely dry once you store them.
