What Are Bed Linens

What Are Considered Bed Linens?

Bed linens are a textile fabric that are used for a sleeping environment. Bed linens include a range of sleeping accessories such as bed sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases. However, the main thing we should understand is that bed linens only refer to bed accessories that are made from linen. This means other fabrics such as cotton and silk would be excluded.

What Are Linen Blankets

What Does "Throw" Mean In Bedding?

Linen blankets are blankets that are specifically made from linen. Linen is a fabric that is harvested from the flax plant. Linen blankets are known for being some of the best blankets in the world. They're known to prevent bacteria from building up, and are also known to soothe your skin. The places in the world the grow the best flax plants (and therefore produce the best linen) include Ireland, and France.

What Are Throw Linens

What Does "Throw" Mean In Bedding?

Throw linens are a smaller version of a blanket. The difference is is that you would see a throw linen outside the bedroom. Where a blanket can be seen in the bedroom, a throw would be seen somewhere such as the sofa in another part of your home. The reason it's called a "throw" linen is that these styles of blankets are more for decoration. They're the blanket you put on a sofa to give the room a more homely feel and to add warmth to the room. It is important to point out that throw linens are functional despite them being a decorative item. They can still make you warm, and comfort you.

What Happens When You Sleep On Linen Sheets?

Are Linen Sheets Hot To Sleep In?

When you first sleep on linen sheets, one thing you'll notice is that when you wake up your body feels cooler than it did with other fabrics like cotton which have trouble regulating your body temperature. Given this, you'll also feel more relaxed too given your improved quality of sleep. Linen sheets are not hot sleep in because linen fibres are hollow, allowing for better air circulation, helping you stay warm in winter and cool in the summer.

What Sheets Give You The Best Sleep?

Is It Better To Sleep On Cotton Or Linen Sheets?

Many people who sleep on cotton would say that cotton bed sheets are the better ones. However, many cotton users have never used linen so they're opinion doesn't mean much. For those that have used both, 95% of them would say that linen is the better sheet to sleep in. It's ability to be woven without chemicals or synthetics make it a healthier option for those who value health. It's also much better at being a breathable fabric. One study showed that in the summer, linen was able to decrease the temperature of the bed sheets by 3-4 Degrees Celsius (37-39 Degrees Fahrenheit). Linen has consistently proven to be a better bed sheet to sleep on than cotton.
